Hebrews 13: Confidence in trusting God

I have a personal love for the Amplified Bible for the simple reason that it allows us to look at the word of God as through a microscope. This particular passage is one of those examples where we are able to get more from the text than through some other versions.

I am referring to the section which covers v5 and 6

“Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money, including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions, and be satisfied with your present circumstances and with what you have; for God Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down or relax My hold on you! Assuredly not!
So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm. I will not fear or dread or be terrified. What can man do to me?”

When we read this it is clear that God is trying to impress upon us in no uncertain terms and in a way we can never again doubt that He is in control of our lives and we can entirely and without hesitation trust him with every detail of our lives.

He can and should be in the driver’s seat because we are safe with Him in control. The repetition of “I will not” is unique to the Amplified and impresses upon us the confidence we can have of his care of our lives.

Trust God – it’s the only way to live
